The first two weeks are exciting, you blog every day, everything goes great, then slowly you start to have "more important" things you need to take care of. Before you know it, the blog is just sitting there, growing mold. Don't be that guy... Be a winner, be the guy that takes things through the end.
In the words of the great blogger, John Chow,
"Do you know that Blogging goes beyond waking up every morning and hitting hard on your keyboard?
There are priceless benefits, and over and over again, young millionaires emerge
who generate decent income blogging.
That blog of yours has the potential to make you rich. Period!"
Remember this. Print it out and hang it on your wall. Stick it on your forehead. Remind your self every day why you started this blog. I guarantee you that you will forget all the positives and you will get discouraged. This is why you need to plan for it. You need to provide your future self with tools that will keep you going. This only needs to be done until your blog starts to make money, at which point, the money will make you keep going, but until then, you need to plan to keep your self motivated.
In the beginning, it is important to fill your blog with useful content, this is why you should blog every day for at least 30 days. After about 30 days of daily blogging, you can go to twice a week or even once a week. This is only if you can not do it every day for some reason, but for best results, I would keep blogging every day.
Have a editorial calendar where you pre-plan the topics you will blog about. Do this as far ahead as you can, this way you will always have something to blog about, on those days when you just don't know what to write.
I personally just stick my ideas into WordPress by starting a new post, giving it a title, making any notes I need directly in the body of the post, and then saving it as draft. This way the post is already sitting there waiting for you to continue working on it. Works well for me, so you can try this simple way to keep your blogging ideas.
Why Being Consistent Is So Important?
The importance in consistency is that your regular readers will expect new content from you on regular basis. If you do not provide that for them, they will move on to other blogs. Most blog readers, only have so much time to read blogs, so they will want to maximize that time by only reading blogs that keep providing quality new content on regular basis.
Keep your readers interested by feeding them new content on regular basis. If you choose to post a new amazing post once a week, then do that. If you choose to post a shorter, more to the point posts, every day, then that is what you should do. Just make sure to keep doing it and not give up. Even if you only post once a month, but your content is super amazing, your readers will expect you to deliver this level of content every month and will keep coming back.
Inspire Your Self
Keep your eyes on the prize. The prize is the freedom you will have when you only have to work a couple of hours a day and then play the rest of the time. This is what full time blogging allows you to do. Get there.
The main thing is keep going, keep blogging regularly. Never give up this dream, it will pay off, if you don't quit!
